Who Is Nana?

Seoul certainly isn’t a city you think of when ‘street art’ is discussed. While the situation is getting better, street art just isn’t all that common in most areas, and tagging and rogue graphing isn’t all that popular.  That level of respect for private and public property just hasn’t sunk to the low levels of North America and Europe. That isn’t to say that there aren’t great graph artists, it’s just that you don’t see a lot of pieces up in places you’d see them in North America and Europe.

Nana is one of Seoul’s more prolific street artists. His/her art, posters, graphs, and tags can be found in almost every corner of Seoul. While the ‘nana loves you’ heart is the most common of tags, there are pastes, posters, and stencils up in Hongdae, Apkujeong, and various other places. Though some of it isn’t all that fantastic, respect is due because it is quite literally everywhere.

If you’re nana, and you’re reading this, I’d love to meet you and shake your hand. I’m also curious to know if you are a man, woman, or child. Here are just a few of the pieces I’ve captured.

Rip off his tag and put it on a t-shirt.
Then you’ll meet him and it’ll make you money too.
